Somatic Healing Journey: A 5-Week Workshop Series

In this workshop series, I will be doing a deep dive exploration of Body Liberation Journey Core Elements.

Body Liberation Journey is a process of listening, attunement; slowing and opening to a deeper sensing of body and psyche to promote bodily awareness and connection to sensation. My intention in creating this work is to offer a way to integrate movement as a tool for both enhancing embodiment and supporting trauma recovery by expanding our somatic movement understanding, vocabulary and practice.

The word “somatic” is derived from the Greek word “soma” which means “the living body known from within” or the body in its wholeness. 

The body has memories of trauma that can only be understood through the language of the Soma.

This process provides a powerful and direct path into the body’s wisdom and our innate capacities for healing. We work with the body to help you find its natural rhythm of self-regulation.

Week 1: Building Safety in Body
This involves cultivating awareness of bodily sensations, understanding your relationship to the body, regulating the nervous system, and creating environments or practices that promote physical and emotional security. Somatic safety is a process of tuning into the body’s signals and responding in ways that foster resilience and well-being.

Week 2: Breath and Sound
Synchronizing the breath to our movement can help us keep the mind focused. This concentration keeps you present in your body and out of your head. To enhance this experience, we invite in sound and vocalization to help relieve tension, open up blocked energy, reduce stress, to balance and harmonize mind and body.

Week 3: Slowing Down and Body Story
Embodying presence and listening to our body’s wisdom requires a deep shift from intellectual understanding to experiential awareness. How can you improve and deepen your connection to your Body Story? We can start by being curious: Your body carry your stories. We invite the Whole of the body to come along as we listen and move through the stories the body tells.

Week 4: Sensual Wisdom and Touch
When we start to recognize sensuality for what it truly is – a powerful life force within us all – we can harness it as a portal to greater creativity, confidence, and transformation.

Week 5: Primal Play
Embracing our primal instincts and reconnecting with our innate animal nature can indeed be a profound journey of self-discovery and joy. Tap into your primal instincts and experience the liberating power of play:
